I guess this is computer related.

Two electric plugs can be connected to each wall outlet.
I have two wall outlets near my computer, which can support a total of four electric plugs.

I need to connect the following to a surge protector: desktop computer, computer monitor, printer, xbox, plasma TV, wireless router, cable modem.

I found this surge protector which has an AC Suppression Joule Rating of 4320J and has 12-outlets (I just chose the most joules I could find since I have a plasma TV and a desktop computer):

Should I connect all these devices to this one surge protector and then connect the surge protector to one wall outlet?
Or should I purchase two smaller surge protectors and connect one surge protector to one wall outlet and the other to another wall outlet?

There are about 8 electronics going through one wall outlet through a surge protector. Will this cause somekind of overload or be dangerous?

I live in the land of frequent power outages.

Last winter, the local utility dropped a 60kv transmission line on our 15kv local distribution line while restoring power after a wind / rain storm.

I had a whole house surge protector installed on the panel and several of these surge protectors:

which I can get locally for about $17 USD.

The surge blew out my whole house protector and all but two of the Ace's. Everything that was connected to the Ace SP's survived.

You can argue about joules and response times, but the fact is that a catastrophic surge (like mine or a lightning strike) cannot be stopped, especially in the first few milliseconds when the damage is done.

Even with eight pieces of electronic equipment attached, you are unlikely to cause an overload.

All of the plugs in one room would most typically be connected to the same 15 or 20 amp breaker at the panel - and - the SP's have 15 amp circuit breakers as well.

I like the Ace SP's because the outlet spacing is generous enough to handle multiple wall warts.

I also installed another whole house SP on the service panel and one on each of my subpanels.
