I am wondering about how much hard disc space you need to copy a typical 2 hour DVD movie onto your hard drive as an image file?

how big of a jug do you need to hold a gallon of water ??
How much space is used on the disc ??

It will be approximately the same size i.e. 4.3-4.5GB for a single layer DVD, about 8.5 for double layer; there isn't much extra overhead for image file formats (e.g ISO). If your DVD is smaller e.g. you can have 2GB DVD's, it will be about the same size as the DVD.

It depends entirely what format and how much compression you use. To rip a straight copy of a commercial DVD would usually require about 8.3GB. -
I didn't know DVD movies said how many GB's they were on the lable.
