I am really sorry I posted this before in the DVD and Blue Ray Writers Section

I purchased a Philips Dvp5990 a few months ago and sometimes when you stop a DVD and then put the DVD back in later, the player will freeze up (I guess this is a bug with the auto resume function?) For example I put in The Dark Knight, and when I hit STOP, the dvd player shows one of those splash screens for the DVD (it's a picture of gotham city for this particular movie). Then I remove the DVD (and turn off the player) and then maybe a few hours later when I go to watch the rest I insert the disc and the player will show a distorted version of that "splash screen" (it will be kinda blurry) and then I can hear the audio from the main menu of the dvd start up but it's all jumpy. However, sometimes this problem doesn't happen at all and the DVD will just start where it left off. I checked philip's site and the latest firmware had already come preloaded on my player. I have found that hitting the stop button twice will cause the DVD to stop completely and then the next time you insert it, it starts from the beginning, but I really do like the auto-resume function . So does anyone else have this problem, and if so has anyone found a way to fix this?

As for other DVD's besides The Dark Knight, I have tested quite a few and as above, sometimes the auto-resume works and sometimes it doesn't

There you can find custom FW too.

But I would suggest you unplug your player from wall for a minute & plug it back cause this reset any electronic.
