Just kicks I bought the Transformers HD-DVD today for $10 and figured the worst that could happen is I would have to re-encode VC-1 to H.264 to be able to stream to my PS3 (I figured the Blu-Ray would have been VC-1 anyway so I figured I would save $18 if I had to re-encode anyways).

I use EVOdemux and to my surprise the 1080p video stream is H.264 30fps with 3:2 pulldown.
    Decrypted with AnyDVD-HD
Demux video and one audio track with tsMuxer.
    Convert audio dd+ to ac3 with eac3to.
Remux video (change to 24fps and remove 3:2 pulldown) with converted audio to .m2ts with tsMuxer.

PS3 recognizes file and tries to play it.
    No sound.
    Black screen when playing.
Interestingly enough when I fast forward at 10x or 30x it will actually show visible frames so the video does not appear to need re-encoding.

Is there something that I can do with just tsMuxer or do I need to run it through some filter before remuxing?

  2. remuxing isn't a way to change fps. you would have to inverse telecine and re-encode to get it to 24fps.

Well, that's interesting that I just ran tsMuxer and changed the frames per sec to 24000/1001 and removed 3:2 pulldown and only sent the resulting video to an m2ts file and the video streamed perfectly to the PS3.
I am reconverting my eac3 to ac3 right now (I don't think I did it right the first time) and I hope it all works together.

Followup: I remuxed the newly converted ac3 audio to the 264 video stream (changed fps to 24000/1001 and removed pulldown) into an m2ts container with tsMuxer. The first half of the movie played (streamed to PS3) completely through without audio synch issues. There were maybe 4 times that a small part of the picture got pixellated for a split second and I don't know why (source conversion or PS3 streaming?)...but I can live with that since the video quality is so good. All I have to do now is do a remux of both video (10GB each) and both AC3 audio files and make sure that the audio does not get out of synch at the split.
