I know there are several FLV converters...
I wanted to know what the best were!
It would be great if I could have some replies

    My experience:

Sorenson Squeeze: the most professional one, easy and intuitive to use - but sometimes, it doesn't like video that other programs will happily cope with
(This one you have to pay big bucks for!)
The size of videos made is the smallest + the best of all

Riva - great, good quality video - but lately, I've had trouble getting it to encode video sourced from the camcorder
For quality and file size - comes a very close 2nd to Sorenson, best of all, it's completely free!

On2 Flix: not really experienced that much... tried once or twice (a few years ago) - wasn't impressed... so I gave up
(Not sure how much - but am sure it's big bucks)

Super - damn wow, throw ANYTHING at it and it will give you back ANYTHING!
Laughs at video files that other program will stutter and cough at - if you get stuck with a video file, then rely on Super to resuce you
(Unfortunately, the video quality is not the best at all)

After Effects: you need to be a genius to use without having studied for a few hours; wasn't impressed with the size of video made

Avidemux: not used yet... downloading now!

    Any others??
The above are from my experience only

I'd really like some replies... I'm about 2 years out of touch... and am not sure what the best programs are right now

    Thanks!

Why not Riva FLV Encoder or WinFF? (You mentioned trouble with Riva, but yours may be an isolated situation.) WinFF is also free and far superior to SUPER, IMO. And...are you kidding about including After Effects in this list?

FFmpeg using Avanti or Mencoder using AutoMen (both free)

either for me work with no need for Sorenson or On2 products
I love it when a plan comes together!

Why need any of of those FLV encoders when .h264 MP4 is now accepted by flash ? Just use one of the better x264 based free apps such as AutoMKV (most control), Xvid4PSP, or RipBot (easiest)

Both Avanti and Automen will convert video to either flv or mp4(avc).

For avanti you'll need to download ffmpeg and for Automen you need to download Mencoder

    Try them out

  11. Which of the above are compatible with Windows Vista?

I'm looking for one that will do FLV to MPG (2) and FLV to mp3 (audio).

    I use keepvid.com to grab the FLV's but I guess I could grab the mp4's instead so mp4 to MPG (2) & MP4 to mp3 (audio)

If there's one that will go between PAL & NTSC video too, that'd be ideal.

    Thanks in advance for replies.
