    Is it true that if I connect my LCD via hdmi with the DVP 5996 player, I wont have any option for connecting an analog 5.1 channel speaker? that is, if i use hdmi, i have to get the audio output via the lcd or a digital audio system (and an analog 5.1 system wont work!).

    If the 5996 is like Philips' other players I've dealt with you can select whether digital audio goes to the HDMI port or the coax port. Analog output is only stereo RCA.
