    Are there concepts of PAL and NTSC in AVI files encoded with XviD or DivX too like in DVDs? Please elaborate...

    Not really. There is a frame rate though. PAL sources usually become 25 fps Divx files. NTSC source become 23.976 or 29.97 fps Divx files.

    Most Divx/DVD players will happily play all of them.
