Hello all.
I am currently trying to create 16:9 menus in scenarist, i encoded an output AVI file i made in Flash using TMPGEnc (8000kbps m2v video) and imported that into scenarist. Next thing i did was play that m2v in powerdvd, and capture a frame. I pasted it into photoshop, and cut out everything except the actual menu items, and filled them in blue - so i can use that in scenarist as the menu sub-picture for the buttons..
The thing is, the sub picture is always being streched in the menu so it isnt covering my 'buttons' in the video, they are slightly off. I've tried creating a 4:3 menu with a sub-picture, and that worked perfectly, no problems.
The problem is something to do with scenarist resizing the sub-pictures in menus for 16:9 screens or something.. Weird thing is, the menu works on powerdvd, but not on a standalone player - the sub-picture is being streched to 4:3, which is annoying.
Also, when i try and create the menu in 16:9 in scenarist, I import the sub-picture into the menu track, and try to add the track to the Scenario Editor, it gives me this error:
Error: Display Mode of Language English shall have at least one wide and letterbox setting.
In the track editor for that track, there are options on the sub-picture for W and L, and P has been disabled. I can only get the menu to compile or run when i enable both. I have searched around on the net for that error, and i haven't found much because no one has really got it. And the posts i found about it don't help me at all. Any info on this error would be great
And if anyone has successfully made a 16:9 menu in scenarist, i would appreciate some help in making a successful sub-picture (mine is 720x576 - an exact dump from PowerDVD)

Stills imported into Scenarist are automatically made as 4:3. Before importing your still go to Settings/default settings/Still and set the aspect ratio to 16:9. I think that should probably solve your problem.
That error is prettey self explanatory I think, if you've got subtitles in any track than you must have at least one be set to wide and one set to letterbox, or you can cover both bases by setting a single stream to both W and L. Think about it, when the DVD player plays it, it has to know which stream to play while in W mode and in L mode. -
Yep - i set it to 16:9 ages ago when i started, and i just confirmed it's still set as that - it's still doing it.

Hey, had the same problem. got lucky and figured it out. Hopefully you figured it out by now (2 years later) but for other people.......
In the Scenario Editor, click on your language folder. Open your simulation window, click the SUBPICTURE AND HIGHLIGHT tab then click the STREAM button. Change the DISPLAY MODE to WIDE/LETTER
good luck.
