I've got a Sony Handyman and require that I stream video from it onto my computer. Any thoughts on how to do this?

I looked at your specifications and your camera has analog outputs, so a capture card is one option. Another is your camera has FireWire/i.Link, so I looked at your specifications and your camera has analog outputs, so a capture card is one option. Read up on the capture section (I use ULEAD VideoStudio or VirtualDub). VirtualDub is free, but can be a little hard to set up with codecs and plugins.

What exactly do you mean by streaming?

If you are wanting to stream the video to the web (like using a webcam), give one of these softwares a try:
 http://www.orangeware.com/endusers/webcamdv.html
 http://www.trackercam.com/TCamWeb/dvdriver.htm
Alternatively, some newer camcorders have USB cable connections which I believe can be used to use your DV camcorder as a webcam

If you just want to capture the video onto your computer, give WinDV or Scenalyzer a try. They both transfer video over firewire to your PC

	Hi,

So, I looked into the FireWire solution and... well, the camcorder doesn't appear to have a FireWire port. It has a USB port though.

It also has a A/V R, HDMI Out and a A/V Out on its base-station. The A/VR wire has those plugs that fit into your TV (blue, green, red, white). Is there some kind of converter to allow this to work with Mac OS X?

I am not very knowledgeable with camcorder speak so bare with me. We basically want to be able to turn our camcorder into a webcam... I guess that's the best way to put it.
