Hi!
I need to burn quite a large number of DVD-Rs between 3.5GB and 4GB. They will not even touch 4GB, always around 3.5GB.
Previously and currently I use TDKs (TTH and TTG codes) and genuine Taiyo Yuden, 1st class media as recommended by nomorecoasters.com. It's just that for 3.5GB it seems a bit silly wasting such expensive media. I've read that media tends to be real troublesome over the 4GB mark.
Any recommendations for my situation, please?
Thank you in advance!

In North America, TDK long ago ceased being good media. They now only outsource their media to low quality manufacturers, usually in India. If you live in Europe you may still be able to get good quality TDK media as there have been reports that TDK's European media may still be made by high quality manufacturers.
Decide what is most important to you - media quality or cheap price. You can't have both. If you care about quality, then you pay what it takes to get quality discs. If you don't want to pay for quality media, then just buy any cheap crap discs you can find and hope they last.
I wouldn't worry about "wasting" discs. You seem to me to be very price conscious and as such it seems to me that you have made your choice as to what is most important to you, even if you don't realize it. -
The more coasters you make, the more time and money you lose. Then there are the durability and compatibility issues. It seems that genuine Taiyo Yudens are pretty trustworthy, and when purchased in bulk (you say you have a large number of DVDs to make), they can be quite inexpensive. Verbatims are also good, and they go on sale quite often. Other than those two brands -- well, maybe Sony, too -- there are not a lot of media products out there that instill complete confidence. Each time your burner has to do a repeat burn due to media failure, it wears out a little more. A few pennies extra per disc can be justified in that area alone, methinks.

But then again, i never pay attention to other crappy media :P
Seriously though, if the OP is in america, you will never do better than Verbatim when on sale if you want to pick up a large quantity at a local store.
It sure makes it easy when someone has been here for 7 years with only 63 post's and tells you basically nothing eh...

Hi!
Thank you everyone for you replies.
Jman98! Here is the UK, I have always been able to find the TTG and TTH code TDKs with ease.
I must admit I did get stung a couple of weeks ago when I ordered some TDK media from play.com. The price was very cheap, it sounded too good to be true and it was. With no media dye code on play.com, the TDKs turned out to be made in India by Moser Baer. I picked the top disc from the spindle and could easily tell it was much much lighter than the Japanese media I used. This might sound really silly but honestly anyone could tell the difference by weight alone. It's just very very thin.
The only media I have ever used all my DVD burning life is RITEKG03 (backing up my originals), TTG and TTH TDKs and genuine Taiyos. The RITEKG03 was my first batch of media. I'm not really worried about my RITEKS (not being first class media) as they only hold my original backups. Unless someone can convince me 100% that there is some cheap media out there that would do my 3.5GB burning job, I will always stick to my trusted media.
It was only a thought if I could use cheaper media to do my 3.5GB burning job, but with everyones advice here that thought is out of my head now.
Thanks everyone!
