  2. DVD software player? There's a ton of good ones. I use MPCHC (free and small footprint).

    Now, for *Blu-Ray* players, that's different. I got PowerDVD bundled with my BD-ROM, disliked it and uninstalled. I currently use Digital Theater in TME. TMT is fine as well. Usable Blu-ray players are scarce and pricey compared to DVD software players, so many of which are free. No good reason to pay for a DVD player.
