To view the movie trailers at Apple's site, you'll only need a standard QuickTime install. The videos are mostly (all?) H.264/AAC.
But sometimes a link may point to a non-existent file or resource. Check other resolutions for that trailer, or other trailers, before doubting your software. That site gets a lot of modifications (updates), so there's always a chance that the webmaster makes an unintended error. -
just a notice, Perian 1.1 introduced a bug with some h264 videocodec. It decodes h264 instead Apple native decoder.
Great if QT didn't recognize the h264 video from your camcorder.
Bad if you want to look to Apple trailers (Perian just show you half of the frames, take a look: if your movie is 24fps, QuickTime with Perian will just display 24/2 different frames)
byeFor DVD, iPad, HD, connected TV, … iMovie & FCPX? MovieConverter-Studio 3 (01/24/2015) - Handle your camcorder's videos? even in 60p or 60i? do a slow-motion? MovieCam.
