  1. Hello,
I recently saw a program that claimed it could, with a cdrw drive, burn a dvd. Is this possible? If so, how? Thanks a lot- Aaron

  2. Yes, it is possible to burn DVD to CDRW. This is called miniDVD and is supported by only 2% of all DVD players. You can only fit 15 minutes of DVD quality video in one CDR/W.

    I hope this helps.

  3. what those products also don't tell u is that they mean DVDRips, ie DivX (MPEG-4, only playable on computers) and/or SVCDs (MPEG-2, standalone compatible). DVDs can not be written to CD, simply b/c of size. MiniDVD is taking the ripped VOBs from the DVD that you ripped, downsampling them, and placing them on a CD. as Pharaoh said, there is LITTLE standalone support for this so its not even worth it. other than that, the only "DVDs" on CD are DVDRips.

Of course its not possible Goring. If it were then what would be the point of dvd burners? Either the program was a fake or you misread what it was claiming.

Rexneel to make a minidvd you need dvd authoring software that lets you burn on cdr/w media. This function is really for playtesting your disks before wasting dvd-r media, its not actually supposed to be used as a viable format but like someone else mentioned there are a very select few dvd players which can play these, though you usually have to modify the player first.

Anyway with the software simply take any video and encode it according to the dvd standard or use an existing dvd and just re-author the vobs using the dvd authoring software.
