I have some dvd's that will not play in any any computer, but work ok on my cheap tv dvd player, how can i get them onto the pc to edit. tried numerous recovery progs.

All the dvd's are my own work

The only way i can think of is to use one of those TV to USB devices, as i have only 6 to recover seems a waste any ideas. I have another 10 that were made about the same time and they are fine, all have a few very light scratches, but nothing much.

    Thanks

How were the discs created? Are they data discs or DVD spec movie discs?

My first thought would be a bad DVDROM drive in the PC, cheap media or a media not supported by the DVDROM drive, or they are in a format not supported by the PC (such as discs recorded in VR-mode by a DVD Recorder).

sorry should have given more info!

The disks were created in dvd format, in a comercial panasonic dvd recorder (not pc) connected to a video/audio mixer, the disks are rimax, they seem to be ok out of 300 disks we had 3 that failed. apart from the ones that will not read (tried in many pc dvd drives) there are others (created at the same time) that are fine. Both my dvd (pc) devices will read the good disks.

The disks have many years of film from shots of Whales and Dolphins, (should have kept the Mini-dv tapes) both above water and under water.

any help would be great thanks

all the disks were finalised, and were working, 12 months ago, they have been stored in cases, together, as all master disks they were treated with care, and not exposed to any abuse Light, Heat, or anything else that would damage them ( well none that i can think of!!!!!) I think I am going to have to bie the bullet and get one of those usb capture devices and plug it into my home dvd player. I hoped i caould have done it with software, but sometimes there is no other way.

Again thank you for your time, and brain power, two or three heads are always better then one

    thank again RR
