  1. Guys, can anyone please advise me on the CCE guide?

    I've done everything exactly as described, but my problem is that the video output I'm getting has a weird resolution (720x576), which the authoring software doesn't understand. I tried experimenting with settings, and it seems that the proper NTSC resolution (720x480) is automatically generated by setting your frame rate at 29.97, which is not what I want to do - both based on the guide and my experience of trying to convert it at 29.97 (the resulting MPV looks like on prozac and is at ~1.1 of its original speed). I've also specified the correct resizing resolution in the AVS, as the guide notes, i.e.:
    LoadPlugin("DGDecode.dll")
    LoadPlugin("Decomb521.dll")
    MPEG2Source("C:\WORK\movie.d2v")
    FieldDeinterlace(full=false)
    ConvertToYUY2()
    LanczosResize(720,480)
    So the question is: what's the way to get the proper video output with regular NTSC resolution (720x480) using CCE?

    Thank you all in advance!

    When you use CCE, do not tick the For DVD box. You want to create a 720 x 480, 25 fps video clip. If you tick For DVD in CCE, then set the framerate to 25 fps, it assumes you are creating a PAL video, and resizes to PAL resolution.

  3. guns1inger, can you please point me to where's the option to (un)check the "for DVD" box?

  4. Btw, here's my settings screen (it's a bit different compared to the one in the guide, since I'm using new v2.70.02.12 version).

    Look at the image you have just posted. At the top, under Video Settings, is a box marked For DVD. It is currently ticked. If it is ticked, CCE will force the stream to be DVD compliant, including resizing if necessary. It doesn't matter that you don't have the resize box ticked. Because you are creating a hybrid PAL/NTSC video to begin with, you have to tell CCE not to think for you.

    Untick For DVD and encode again.

  6. Thank you, guns1inger! It seems to have changed, at least in the dialog; will try to re-encode now.

    Also be sure you are using proper max GOP length (12) setting. If you started with PAL default template, you probably have correct setting. Otherwise (if you just ticked 25fps in an NTSC template) look into 'Advanced' tab and check whether or not you have N=3, N/M=4 and set those numbers if necessary.

  8. Alex_ander: it has been a part of the guide, so I've set those GOP settings, but thanks for pointing it out!

    One more question: in 11th step (DGPullDown) it's not clear what pulldown option should you choose for the MPV:
    23.976 -> 29.97
    24 -> 29.97
    25 -> 29.97

    I assumed that since CCE settings were set at 25 frames that 25 -> 29.97 is the proper one, but the default in the program is set to 23.976 -> 29.97. Any advice on that?

    Yes, 25 - 29.970 is the correct choice. 23.976 -> 29.970 is the default because this is the usual use for pulldown flags
