  1. Greetings again all,

Just a quick question regarding trailor hitches.

I have a 2001 Mazda Tribute, 4 cyl. Apparantly, can tow up to 1500 lbs, give or take.

I have been looking at getting a trailor hitch. Now, I have always assumed that an aftermarket hitch would need to be welded on to the frame/body of the truck. But I am seeing ones that essentially just bolt on. Are those safe? Effective?

    Any thoughts?

As usual, thank you in advance.

1500 isn't very much to trailer. You may be able to pull a jetski or something but not much more.

Most aftermarket hitches bolt to the frame. As long as you do it right they are plenty sturdy. Drilling holes into your frame is tough though. Make sure you have all the right tools. Also make sure to properly follow all the torque specs for the hitch.

I suppose this falls into the "Duh" category... Just make sure you don't get something that bolts to your bumper.
