Hi, hope someone can help me (I'm very new to this, just got my A03 2 days ago ) - I followed the burning mpg-1 to DVD guide on this site (de-multiplexing, re-encoding audio, then authoring with spruce-up and burning with prassi) - to make a 7hr+ mpg-1 disc, and while it plays beautifully on my pc using WinDVD, the actual mpgs themselves are horrible on my Pioneer DV-535 player, which can usually handle any kind of vcd/svcd I've thrown at it: the menus and thumbnails all look fantastic, but when I play back any of the clips, they play like some nightmarish online streaming video, highly pixellated etc. These are files that have played perfectly when burned to regular VCD. Another thing about them is that when I shuttle forward during a clip, the entire image shrinks into the top-left quarter of the screen, and re-expands to fill the screen when I press PLAY again.
I initially used an unbranded disc (I used one of these to back up a single-layer dvd yesterday and that was perfect), but I tried authoring a far smaller compilation (basically one clip) using the same process and burned it to my Verbatim DVD-RW disc, with exactly the same results, both with Prassi and SpruceUp's own burning function. When I initially burned the 7hr compilation on Prassi, it did say 'disc burning error' right at the very end, but since it didn't reject the Video_TS file I thought it would probably be ok.
Does anyone know if this is a problem endemic to the DV-535 or is this a common pitfall which can be avoided? Also, could it be the media I'm using? I'm just now trying to re-burn using Spruce-Up's own burning function, on one of my 2 precious freebie Pioneer DVDRs. If I have any more luck I'll post here.
