  1. hey

    i wanted to know how can i preserve the 6 or 5 channel sound i have in mkv files i download from internet when i convert it to avi
    all the conversion softwares convert them 2 channel cbr bitrate
    since i want to play these files in my dvd player i would love to keep the 6 channel audio intact

    plz tell me if there is a guide which can direct me a step by step process of converting using any gui based soft and not command line coz i'm a newbie

    or if at least convertxto dvd can convert mkv to vob by preserving the ac3 6 channel sond

    Have you tried alltoavi? It wont work with all mkvs though.

    Recommended method:

    1) Use MKVtoolnix and get a video-only .MKV plus a standalone multichannel AC3/DTS/AAC;

    2) Convert the video-only .MKV to a video-only .AVI;

    3) Use AVI-Mux GUI to copy the original audio into the newborn .AVI;
