I'm just a beginner with video editing but I need to find a way to accomplish this task. In the video, while the speaker is speaking, every time he says a certain phrase, I need to put a flashing idea light bulb on the screen. I found a good image to use, looks fine when I drag it to the time line, but how can I make it blink, and then be able to use it over and over again as an asset?

The only way I found so far was to drag it to a video track, adjust its size with the pan/crop, adjust it's length, and then copy it 3 or 4 more times next to one another. I figure there has to be an easier way. I attached the bulb image I want to use below.

Use a program like photo shop and adjust the color so it gets dimmer, make png of lots of these images going dim to bright and put them into your video editor,if you want you can also save all the images as an avi output and just put the avi in the sequence line.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

I figured out a simple way! I just put it on the timeline, adjusted the size and position, made it half a second in length. and faded in half of that, and faded out half of that, then copied the item 4 times, and now I have a flashing light bulb!
