I have an AMD dual core 5600 processor and a Sony HDR-HC5 videocamera.
Now I am going to buy a new Editing program for HD-video. I have tried Premiere Elements 4 and Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 8.
Which is the best? Why is Premiere such a large program taking up about GB3,5 on the harddisk. Vegas Movie Studio only is MB112, or is it that small because it is a trial version. It seems to work good enough.
Surprisingly Premiere costs about $100 but Vegas costs more!
Anybody who can recomend an editing program for HD?

Either can work. Choose the user interface you prefer based on demo evaluation. Make sure you get the version that supports HDV format.

While you're trying out the low end editors, you minds well try Ulead's VS11+ which handled my HDV as well as can be expected...bought cheap on eBay
If you're going to be editing a lot in the future, you may want to look at the "pro" versions of these, too
Some aps don't write HDV back to the cam very well...or at all...something to consider
How's that HC5 working out? -
The HC5 is working very well. However compared with the earlier DV-camera Sony TRV30 it is sometimes a little more impractical. E.g. if I want to delete a scene I have taken, it is not as easy to go back and "film over" as it was with the DV-camera. On the TRV30 I had a button where one step by step could go back. One could hit the exact point on the tape from where one wanted to start filming. This is not at all possible with the HD-camera where one have to go into the menus.
