  1. Using toolame with tmpgenc, while inputing a windows pcm wav file as the audio source. toolame always crashes at the same area when encoding. tmpgenc doesn't crash when i encode the audio.

    Open TMPG, go to OPTIONS, on the tab that opens first, set your Temp directory to an area with plenty of free disk space. TMPG is defaulted to your C: \TEMP file, if there's not enough room on your c:\ drive, this would cause TMPG to crash....

  4. I had the same problem and decided to use SCMPX instead.
    Totally stable unlike toolame and sounds great (although slower
    than toolame). You can find it at

    I don't think TMPGEnc's sound quality is as bad as many people
    say it is. True, SCMPX is a bit better, but not hugely better
    (same with toolame) IMO. But then again, playing drums for 20 years
    may have reduced my ability to hear such differences.
