I recently purchased the XLR8 Interview usb video converter to make vcd's of my old home movies as well as old video tapes of movies I don't want to lose. I am able to capture at about 28.x fps using the xlr8 component video codec. I don't seem to be able to do any better with the exception of motion jpega but the quality is much lower. I'm running the resulting quicktime file thru Cleaner5 on high quality and my file should be ready in about 23 hours. But I'm curious, will my 28fps capture rate seriously impact the final quality of my vcd when it burns at 29.97fps? Also, is there a better codec setting that I should be using?
I'm doing my work on a G4-400 tower. Is there anything I can do to speed up the Cleaner5 conversion short of reducing quality? Are there any settings I should consider? Thanks for any and all advice.
Dave
