If there is a decent wifi signal nearby is this possible? If not, is satellite an option for individuals like me?

Need more detail.
Is this Wifi your account? Video streaming will suck most of the bandwidth.
How many viewers? You may need to feed a media server for distribution if more than ~two are viewing.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

Thanks edDv. No, I would need to borrow the signal from places like Starbucks. The # of viewers will be hard to predict. There is potential for many thousands of simultaneous views.
Is there some sort of wireless broadband modem that might work better? -
Are you talking about streaming from a little webcam, or a big-production video podcast? Since you're trying to piggyback on Starbuck's wi-fi, I guess it's the former, not the latter.
EDIT: I deleted the supposed video podcasting tutoral links, as they seem to want to sell you their services. Do a google search on "how to stream live video" or "live video podcasting" or "live videocasting." You should get an idea. -
It won't work. Start over. You need to pay for server bandwidth.

Im not opposed to paying at all. Its the remoteness of the locations that is a little tricky. What if I get a 3g modem and hook it up to a laptop like so: http://gizmodo.com/353005/best-macbook-air-3g-usb-modem-novatel-u727-for-sprint
Oh and yes I'll probably be using a webcam of some sort.
Thoughts? Thanks guys.
