Formats? Goals for the edited video?

For consumer commercial products the better 3

    Sony Vegas Movie Studio
    ULead Video Studio
    Adobe Premiere Elements

For MPeg2 editing see Womble or Virtual VCR.

  3. What are your source video specs? (MPEG-2? DV? h.264? AVC? DivX in AVI? etc..etc..)

What features do you want? simple linear editing? or fancy stuff?

EDIT: nice you beat me edDV but our posting time is the same

    Thanks for reply,

I got few DVDs( some Movies and some TV Serials ) but I don't know which format it is.
And some times I require to import video from my miniDV Camera and I think it imports in AVI format.

I don't require to go professional level but may require to do all the basic things we do with video.
    e.g.
    Extract audio from video file
    Replace audio file
Create Menu with scenes like in Movie DVDs
Cut some portion from the existing video DVD
    etc....

    Thanks,

Try WinDV for capture-transfer files from the MiniDv camcorder and then use one of the programs above for editing and basic DVD authoring.

Extraction from DVD is more complicated and covered in the tutorials to the left.
