I like to stream Video to my 360 from my PC the only thing is i have a 60" HD TV and i can not find any software that will convert a DVD to another format in a real high bitrate. Im using SUPER but if you set the bitrate to say 5040 but the output file will be no way close to that. Does no codec support that high of a bitrate? Im guessing thats why it does not come out to what i set the bitrate at.

If thats the case then what codec supports the highest bitrate?

Once again i am only converting the DVD so i can stream it to my 360 not to save space and on a big TV you need a high bitrate.

  2. Converting the video to some other format, regardless of bitrate, will not make it better. Can't you just stream the DVD rip?

  4. If your source is only DVD (not blu-ray or HD-DVD), it will be only 720x480 (NTSC) and <9,800kbps video

You could use DivX, but xbox only supports 5Mbps.

H.264 is supported by xbox to 10Mbps, this would probably be your best option for codec choice if your goal is quality.

I think max filesize supported is still limited to 4GB, so you might need to figure out how high you can go (filesize = bitrate x running time)

Here is info on what is supported by xbox http://blogs.msdn.com/xboxteam/archive/2007/11/30/december-2007-video-playback-faq.aspx

You have many choices for software to encode to h.264: ripbot264, automkv, avidemux, megui just to name a few. If you want the simplest, I would choose ripbot264

    Cheers

Im unable to get WM11 to play .mp4 and the 360 says it can not to? For kicks i changed the .mp4 to .wmv with still not go. I installed ffdshow to and still could not get a mp4 to play. It playes fine though with a differant player on my PC.

I think the 4GB size limit is when you play a file from a USB/hard drive. I think it can stream larger files.

Any insight on how to get .mp4 files to play on the 360?
