This is a shot in the dark, but does anyone still have the "Bonus Pack" CD for this motherboard? I need to reinstall Win 98SE on my daughter's PC, and the CD has been lost; it contains the chipset drivers (Intel 440BX). I searched AOpen's and Intel's websites, and neither has any related downloads available anymore. Thanks.

Wow, 7 minutes for a response -- excellent!
Thanks, Webster, for the links. No, I hadn't checked those two (didn't know about them), but after I downloaded the zip file from StorageDrivers, it turns out it is not drivers, but is Intel's "Software Installation Utility". I've already been down that road with Intel Tech Support, and they had me download a newer version of the utility, and they stressed that it does not contain any drivers. The utility only "optimizes the chipset drivers" so that Device Mgr. shows them correctly (at least that's what I think the TS guy said). According to him, the Win 98SE install CD contains the necessary mb chipset drivers, and the Intel utility configures them correctly -- does that make sense? I just thought it would be safer if I could get a copy of the actual AOpen mb CD and load the drivers off that.
I'll wait a while longer to see somebody has a CD.

[EDIT] I just noticed a note provided by the file uploader on the DriverGuide site: he says 'If you are a "clean" (no upgrade) 98 user, then Intel says to use the Microsoft drivers...' -- I assume that also applies to a clean install of Win 98SE, as in my case? That jibes with what Intel TS said, so maybe I don't need the AOpen mb CD after all?

aedipuss -- the link you provided took me to a page that was for downloading the Intel INF Update (not drivers?), but after agreeing to the T's & C's, it went to a "Not Found" page on a website called 'gamigo', which was in German or Swedish... ?

sorry. they are a bit old. here's the main page.

    http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?id=17

looks like the 4.20 is the last to support the 440 chipset and this one has a working link.

    http://downloads.guru3d.com/Intel-Inf-Update-v4.20.1006-download-495.html

iinf's are the setup files for motherboard components. when you install a driver you point the installer to the inf. the updates can correct registry problems, etc.

OK, that link worked, and I've downloaded v4.40.1006. I don't suppose this version is any different for the 440BX chipset vs. what is in v3.20.1008 that Intel TS had me download, but it doesn't hurt to have another version, just in case. Thanks for the help.

Surprised to see someone actually still has that CD! But, it turns out now I don't need it after all. The Intel Tech Support guy was right -- Win 98SE does have the correct mobo chipset drivers, and all I needed to do was install the Intel "Chipset Software Installation Utility" which properly configured the drivers. So that's the good news. The bad news -- right after I got done reinstalling all the software app's, the hard drive died! So, as soon as I find a replacement, I'll do it all over again. Thanks for the offer of your CD.
