  1. Hi All,

    I am looking for the files need to upgrade the firmware of a Toshiba SD-V392 DVD/VHS player. I need the region free hacks to play some dvd bought on e bay, that came from UK. It would really help. Message me were I can get them or can someone please re-post them. If you have them message me so, I can give you my e mail so, you can send them to me.

    The only "files" needed, would be the firmware bin file. If there is an official firmware update that allows region free, then you would obtain it from the manufacturer (Toshiba in this case).

    Otherwise, you should note that not all players can be "hacked" region free. On top of that, most specialty players cannot be hacked at all. Your DVD/VHS player would be considered a specialty unit.

    There was a hack for this DVD player on this site but, you need 2 files. However, those file are no longer up. So, I am looking for thos files.

    I have two suggestions.

    1) Look for a forum for Toshiba DVD players or this one in particular and ask there. I'm assuming there are such forums.
    2) You could rip the DVD and burn it to remove the region coding, but then your DVD player will have to be capable of playing PAL DVDs. Toshiba has been known to make DVD players that don't do this, but I don't know about your model.

    Based on what information that I can find, this is a region 1 only player. The video setup menu doesn't have a setting to choose video ouput type (NTSC/PAL), which most players that can be hacked include in the video setup even when they are locked.

    Also, based on the responses to the hack that you referenced, it doesn't appear to work properly.
