    when i convert my vob files with dutch subs and play that mpg file i can't get any ditch subs it looks like they've dissapeard while converting to mpg
    (i use vob2mpg)

    Try demuxing (separating) the different streams [video, audio(s), subtitle(s), and chapterinfo] with PgcDemux

    Then mux them back when authoring the DVD.

    Did you convert it to .mpg in the 1st place to author several clips into a DVD?

    mpegs don't contain any selectable subs, only audio and video streams. subs can only be added into the "vob" container during authoring.

    isn't there any way to add permanent subs on a mpg (no selectable ones)

    Actually, MPG program streams can also contain switchable subtitle pics
    and closed captions. Unfortunately most applications and devices
    solemnly ignore the existence of such "uncommon" features.
