Has anyone tried emailing Toshiba about this concern.

With questions such as are you still going to produce players. Will new movies come out in HD Content, and will you still produce old titles for sale??

    Thanks.....

Toshiba is telling major media outlets that it is in the process of considering its options regarding the continuance of HD-DVD...no decision has been announced. Although Toshiba shares have shot up on the Tokyo exchange early Monday as speculators guess at what might be announced.

If the major media outlets business reporters are not getting a firm answer from Toshiba then I would guess that your email would not yield better results.

I'm still waiting to see if Toshiba will honor their deal to send me 5 free HD DVDs after I purchased my player in the first week of January.

Universal and Paramount both said recently that they weren't abandoning the format, but the loss of WalMart really hurt as did Netflix's decision to not buy any more HD DVDs for consumers to rent. Toshiba is going to have to weigh whether it makes sense to subsidize a format that appears to be fighting a losing battle. The amount of money Sony has spent to subsidize BluRay probably exceeds what Toshiba spent and there are all kinds of nasty rumors that once HD DVD dies, BluRay disc prices are going to climb because they are the only game in town.

The only good that might come out of this if Toshiba pulls the plug is that the hackers can spend 100% of their time on making BluRay more consumer friendly.
