  1. The guide above talks about adding new subs in, but this is what I have: some DVDs that already have subtitles in them that I did. The problem is when I imported those subs (.txt) I left the timecodes as ":" I have found I need a ";" in my subs to line up with the movie correctly in spots.

I still have the .txt subtitle files and can convert all of the ":" into ";" pretty easily but do I have to re-author each DVD to get the new subs in? Or can I easily replace the ones that are in there?

The DVDs already have a menu in them.

  2. Hi-
do I have to re-author each DVD to get the new subs in?
I don't know which guide you're referring to, but you can't just add or replace subs to already authored DVD VOBs. You have to demux the PGC, add in or substitute the subtitle stream, reauthor, and then get it back into the original DVD with the menus and anything else it might contain.

  3. Sorry, I was referring to this guide in the sticky:
"How do I add new subtitles to a existing DVD?"

So I have to do everything in method 2? Because Method 1 just has you adding a new subtitle track and won't that conflict with the track I already have in there?

  4. Yes, you have to do everything in the 2nd method. There's not much point in keeping the original subs since you say they're funky, so you'll be replacing them with your edited ones. But no, if you just added the new ones and kept the old ones also, they wouldn't conflict. After all, plenty of DVDs have more than one subtitle stream.

  6. Sorry to bother you manono, but maybe you can help with my issue now. I have made a new thread because it is a separate issue:
