I have just made my Samsung DVD multi-region thanks to the code I found on here. However, I have backed-up one of my DVD's and tried to view it on my DVD player. I have used a TDK DVD-R dvd to back up my original but the back-up copy will not play at all. Could it be that the DVD back-up is faulty or is it something else?
I don't want to use another DVD just now in case I waste another one. I can watch it on my US laptop though.
One final thing, a mate spilled a beer on the disc, I dried it off straight away. Is this more than likely the reason for it not working on my DVD player

Welcome to VideoHelp!
Disk backups are region free, so if your player is or isn't is irrelevant.
But does your Samsung play non PAL disks? I know most PAL players play NTSC too, but there are always exceptions to the rule. A computer has no troubles with different TV systems (PAL/NTSC). That your disk plays fine on your computer suggests it's OK.
Use DVD-RW while experimenting.
Beer on the disk is more than likely not your problem...

If the manual doesn't say anything about it, you may have to boldly put a US disk (original) in the player.

are all US DVD's NTSC? I have just put one in, it works, so I will try backing it up on to a DVD RW and see how I go after that

Yes, all US DVDs are NTSC. And region 1.
So: Your player is region free, and it plays both TV systems (PAL & NTSC). Any disk that wont play, has some issues beyond that.

Then you are likely having media issues. Some players are picky about the brand/type of media that they support. Try a different brand and/or type of media in the player. It's best to stick with quality, name brand discs. The best are Verbatim or TY (taiyo yuden), but other brands should work, it is just a matter of trial and error finding which ones work in your player.
