I was wondering if there is a "definitive" website for upcoming hddvd/bluray releases. Specifically I am wondering about the James Bond series. I know CASINO ROYALE is on bluray now but I will only probably rent it and not buy it (not a fan of Craig).
Anyhow - is there a target date of when the other 007 movies will be released? I assume they will all be on bluray since the latest is on bluray.
Also - why are the last movies in sequels mostly on high def but not entire series? Like Xmen3, Ice Age 2, Rush Hour 3??? The last movie of the series are avaiable but not the whole set yet. And on the flip side you can get Leathal Weapon 1 but not all 4 on bluray and Die Hard 1 but not the rest (actually Live Free is out on high def isn't it?).
I guess what I'm wondering is what is the logic behind releasing only PART of a movie series on high def but not the whole set? It seems like MATRIX and Spiderman are the only blockbuster sets that are fully released yet. What gives? Are they just waiting for the war to be over?
--- I do know dvdtalk.com has a good dvd release list - are they doing hddvd/bluary now and/or are they still around?

Unforunately this only goes to the end of 2007. Anyone else have something different?Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
The 007 series is the property of MGM, which I believe is now Blu-Ray only ( I don't recall for sure, everyone keeps switching sides).
Anyway, I haven't heard any specific news about the series. They have all been remastered in HD for the last SD box sets. So they only likely need to be mastered and pressed. Since the "new" boxsets aren't that old (less than a year), the odds of users double dipping on a HD release are small.
As for the general slowness in releases, especially catalog releases, it likely has to do with sales. HD sales are only a very small portion of total DVD sales. And users are more likely to buy new releases (ie: new movies) or very popular older releases in the HD format. On top of that, Blu-Ray is likely making little to no profit on their software releases. As opposed to HD-DVD which seem to have more catalog releases.
I wouldn't expect a huge flow of catalog titles until/if there is a "winner" of the format war OR all of the studios go format neutral and let the users decide which format to support.Google is your Friend
