I have recently bought a new camcorder, Panasonic PV-GS320. I'm not real impressed with the audio and I'm wondering if this is a defect with my camcorder. The audio sounds muffled and lower quality than my previous camcorder which was a lot cheaper.
I haven't just noticed audio problems, it will skip curtain 2 sec sections of video when capturing to the computer. This doesn't effect the video on the tape, but I've never had capturing problems before.
Since these problems are small, I can't really tell if its a problem with the camcorder or whether it's ment to be like that. And the video capturing problem could be with my computer also.
The audio is set to 16bit also, not 12bit.
In other words, is it normal for some mini dv camcorders 16bit audio to sound worse than other mini dv camcorders with 16bit audio?

If the sound and video on your DV tapes is fine, probably the problem is not with the cam but with your comp.
