  1. I have a satellite box, dvd recorder, a wireless video/sender and also an apple tv. I have only recently got the video/sender and have taken out the scart from the dvd player which was connected to the satellite box so that it can be connected. I only have two scart ports on my tv but have bought an scart extender. Now I am a bit stuck as I don't know where to connect the dvd back to.

Hope I am making sense if someone could tell me where to put what (nicely!!)

    Thanks

The DVD typically connects directly to the TV as will the SAT box. If you plan on using the recorder with SAT channels, then you will likely have an output from the SAT box to the recorder and/or also to the TV.

I'm not sure how the "wireless video/sender" hardware is used.

  3. The wireless sender, sends programmes from the satellite box/dvd to another tv in a different room.

  4. When you say, SCART , I would assume that this is a non US system.

It sounds as the DVD recorder was originally connected In Line, satellite box [receiver] to DVD Than to a SCART connection on the TV
Now the wireless unit . Is it a Wireless SCART unit that plugs directly in to a SCART output on the satellite box and the SCART input in the bedroom TV?
Does the satellite box have more than one output connection, What are they?
What is meant by SCART extender. Does it permit more than one connection to a [single] SCART connection on the satellite box output. I would not think so.

Can I also assume that with satellite service, the box [receiver] would have to be set on the channel to be recorded and the recorder is located at this box.

Not being familiar with those connections results in the questions. Someone that is familiar with them might have a faster answer, but I would give it a try

PS I had tried a wireless some time back but found it somewhat prone to interference etc. It would be nice to know your results [With the unit Model]

As the DVD player and SAT box won't be inline, you will have to decide which path you want to send to another room.

Your only other option would be to try and connect everything (DVD player and SAT box) to the DVD recorder and then connect the recorder to the wireless unit and then to the TV. The only drawback here would be the need to have the recorder on whenever you watch TV as it will be acting as a switch. You will also get stuck only being able to watch a single event at a time (especially if recording).

Your major concern here, is the number and type of connections available on your various hardware.

  6. The reason I asked was.

I have a [#1] satellite receiver in one room connected to a DVD HDD unit than a TV -[inline]-

Another [#2] satellite receiver in another room that connects direct to a TV. The RF output is fed to another room where it is split to Two DVD recorders [but used as players]. This is than fed to two DVD-HDD units and than to a TV [all three in line].

When I tried a wireless unit, I placed it so it would replace the RF cable between rooms but as said, it was not reliable in its performence.
The players, recorders, TV can be placed inline or not, Wireless or not

I have switch-boxes [for my convenience] that are not necessary for operation.

Agreed, and indicated so in my previous post, But to a point. There are a number of ways to connect a system and is why I asked the questions I also would like to know what is thought of a wireless unit

  7. Thanks for the input.

The system is a non-US system, I am over in the UK. The wireless unit is connected to the satellite box through a scart and the receiver of the unit is connected through a scart to the tv set.

At the moment the wireless unit is connected to the satellite box through the one scart, the second remaining scart on the satellite box is connected to the DVD and then the DVD is connected to the TV leaving one free scart on the TV.

This means that only the satellite tv can be viewed through the wireless unit and nothing else. As the apple tv is only connected through the HDMI cable I am not sure how I could see that through the wireless unit.
