  1. I hope I can get an answer and someone can teach me how...

I am trying to convert a MOV file to MPEG using TMPGENC, however, I'll get an error message saying "Illegal floating decimal point calculation order" just at about 4%. How can I resolve this?

Also, if I try to convert an AVI using TMPGENC, I'll get no picture, only sound. Why is that?

I am sorry to ask but I really need some help.

    Thanks

  2. I had this issue as well.
I believe that "Illegal floating decimal point calculation order" means the audio in the MOV is 22000 kb not 44100 or the frame rate is to LOW.

So the best solution is to first make sure you have all the codec ava. from this site then with RAD video tools - convert MOV to DIVX/AVI for the compression format. I prefer the divx 4.12 or the MJPEG Codec Codec myself.
After you have done this you need to convert to VCD with TMPGEnc I use TIbrO VideoCD or the Extra VideoCD 1246kbps template in the extras folder.
But you may still have problems some times TMPGEnc will pull some Illegal operation then shut down TMPGEnc - If this happens the audio in the Divx or AVI is not a PCM wave of 44100 hz. If this is the case use Goldwave (search with google or something) to convert the AVI audio into WAV (select - file - open - pick your AVI-then it will "deflash to disk" then after its loaded select- effects - resample then resample to 44100 hz. - then save as) then merge WAV and AVI in TMPGEnc. by selecting the Video (your avi) then your audio (wav) then output as whatever!

Hope this helps ( I wish someone would have told this to me )

OH YEA! This is the same way to convert .WMA files as well - But use Goldwave First to convert and if needed resample the Audio then open the WMA in TMPGEnc. then select your newly created WAV in the audio field and POOF!! You'll have a VCD compliant MPG!

(If you only want the video from a WMA just delete audio info from audio field and convert the video only or else TMPGEnc. WILL crash!)
