A little choppy HDDVD Video on HD-XA2...

So, I took a couple mkv files, and converted them to avi using Total Video Converter. I used XVID, and set the Xvid High Quality to 20000 kbits/s, original frame rate and original audio rate.

So, with that being said, is it safe to assume it is the video that is causing the problem or the audio?

I want to be able to author an HD-DVD from some mkv files, which took me a while to figure out how to do it. Convert to xvid (avi), and use ULEAD studio to author. Works well, video looks good, but a little choppy.
