<< Have had this in the newbee section for a few days... maybe get a response here >>

    Hello there,

Nearly pulled all my hair out.... can anyone help?

Objective: I have a JVC Everio shooting at 1920 x 1080. HD/ Blue Ray burners have yet to hit the UAE market so I wanted to preserve my movies in the highest possible (and versitile) format so I can keep and watch them on a USB HD connected to my XBOX 360.

Approach: I have edited the clips in Vegas Video and could not get the quality I wanted in any of the supplied "Render As.." options. I finally came across DebugMode Frame Server and sent the files to MainConcept H.264 Encoder and got really great results and am really happy.

Problem: The output files have .mpg extensions and (even when I change the extension) do not play/ cannot be seen on the XBOX 360. All the supplied MP4 options in MainConcept Encoder are for IPOD.

Solution: Do you have one? I thought that h.264 would give me the best shelf-life and versatility for what I shoot which is why I am persuing this option.

I would be really grateful if you could help out and in case you did not know MS have just updated the XBOX 360 video capability - details are here http://blogs.msdn.com/xboxteam/archive/2007/11/30/december-2007-video-playback-faq.aspx

    Thanks, Toby

Maybe it's possible to remux the mpg with h264 to mp4 using YAMB / mp4box. Or use another h264 encoder that muxes to mp4 directly like megui.
