  1. CompUSA to Close All Stores
    By Gary Mcwilliams

Mexican telephone and retail magnate Carlos Slim, in a rare defeat, will exit the U.S. consumer electronics market, shutting the last 100 CompUSA Inc. stores after sinking about $2 billion into the business.

Gordon Brothers Group, a Boston-based retail store liquidator, will oversee a piecemeal sale of the Dallas-based business, the company said in a statement. Financial terms were not disclosed. Stores will remain open through year-end under the supervision of Gordon Brothers, which will also negotiate the sale of real estate and other assets. Two law firms were hired to represent creditors, CompUSA said.

  3. Bummer, Now I'll have to find a new place to go to get;

The worst customer service in town.
Staff that could care less about making a sale while you wait 20mins for them to finish their ciggerette.
Some of the worst no name crap on the market.
Last but not least, the rebate that you'll never see.

    CompUSA was good at:

    No-name crap.
    Expensive prices.
    Awful return policies.
    Rebate issues.
    Sale items not in stock.

While it's really the only local place that I can find computer parts, I'd rather buy online from pretty much anybody else. I've not seen anything good at that store in probably 5 years now.

The only part that I would have to say sucks is that people will be losing their jobs. That's the only reason I would hope they stay in business.

Not me. Workers there were using it as their own personal singles' bar. I would go in there with the look of being in need of help and not one single time was I approached and asked if I needed help. It seems they only approached the good looking women. I would then go and ask where they would have items and get the reply of, "that doesn't exist."

So no, I don't feel sorry for those workers.

Nothing in their ad today to indicate any kind of crazy sales or going out of business...

and yeah, I got a lot of "that doesn't exist" with an incredibly rude and condescending attitude and an eye roll.
A couple times I would take the broken whatever that I was looking to replace out of my pocket/bag and ask them "then what the **** is this you stupid *******?". I figure if their gonna be a rude douche, I can show 'em who the master is.
Nothing but horrible, horrible customer service at every location I've ever been to. But occaisional good deals on media.
I also like their slim-line 2-disc DVD cases. Guess I'll have to stock up before they're gone forever.

Good thing there's a MicroCenter not too terribly far from me!

Why? Nothing wrong with Bestbuy. I do buy from online sites occasionally like newegg or tigerdirect/amazon. Not very often though. I hate paying shipping costs. Though I do do ebay everynow and then as well.

Too bad none of the Best Buys around actually have anything in stock. Ever...
You can't hold it in your hand when there's nothing but an empty spot on the shelf.
Not to mention their selection of computer related items is pure shit.
