Hagane (SNES) Any good?
I remember starring at the review photos of Hagane (SNES) in a Gamepro article back in 1995 and thinking, “Wow! This looks so cool!” The graphics were way better compared to Shinobi III on the SEGA Mega Drive and could even rival some NEOGEO titles in the graphics department.
I never got to play the game back then but being a Ninja Gaiden Series (NES) fan, I promised to my self that I’ll try it someday.
From what I can tell, it takes place in a dark themed & sinister setting and mixes elements of traditional Japanese ninja and samurai with a near futuristic setting, filled with robots wielding magic. It also combines Japanese mysticism and sorcery with technology, almost in an unholy kind of way like Doom.
Hagane is supposed to be coming out for the Wii virtual console!
So, how good is this game?

You can always find the rom online, and play it on an emulator like ZNES, to see if you like it enough to buy the actual game cart.

It looks pretty slick, but I always had a hard time finding SuperFamicon carts back in the day as there are no import shops around here.

Yes, I'll give it a try on ZSNES emu, the interpolated graphics look much better than they do on my real SNES.
It shouldn't be too hard to track down the real Hagane cart however, as the critics and reviews are not too good. It's considered to be quite difficult. -
Plus you should know Super Famicom carts are not compatible with the North American SNES, as the slot on the console is different. You can get an adapter to make them compatible, though it might be even harder to find nowadays. Best bet is ZNES. Here is a pic of a Japanese SFC with the North American adapter:

the adapter was a total waste of money!
I modified my SNES with a pair of wire cutters in less than 1 minute.
Super Famicon carts worked perfectly every time.
All you gotta do is open the game slot and cut the little plastic tabs out.
Mebbe I'll post a pic of mine later (yes, I still have my original SNES!)."To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research." - Steven Wright

Yes, I know.
I have a EURO PAL SNES which is physically identical to the JPN SNES and a SNES Adapter that works perfectly on every single import game I've tried so far (US & JPN)
I also have a 2nd EURO PAL SNES, which I've personally moded my self by adding a region switch (soldering directly on the SNES PCB)
I would have also added a 50/60HZ switch as well, but I've read that's technically impossible as you would have to change the SNES' GPU.
But that's no problem for my EURO PAL SEGA Mega Drive!
I've installed both a Region and a 50/60HZ switch making it a truly universal Mega Drive / Genesis!
