I've been using Studio 9 to make DVD compilations assembled from a library of AVI files for use during church services over a year now with good results.

I'm now asked to also include some video given to me as MPG files in the compilations. I find that some of the MPG files, when placed on the time line, result in Studio locking up if I try to cursor through that segment of the time line. If I avoid touching those portions of the compilation, the finished product works as it should.

I also find that some other MPG files do allow me to cursor through to find a specific spot, but when the DVD is completed, the audio from these MPG files has not come across to the finished product.

I find that Premier Elements 1 handles these MPG files without problem, but Element's menuing is not sufficient for these projects so I can't really use it.

Any thoughts as to if an upgrade to the current version of Studio (is it 11?) would solve my problem for sure?

Dunno Studio at all, but you could convert the MPG files to AVI in VirtualdubMOD, saving using the Huffyuv or Lagarith lossless codec. As long as you have enough disk space, this would be a workaround.

    Thank you for the suggestion.

    I'll give it a try.
