I didn't look but sometimes it's just the warranty that's different
very glad I got a 3 year with a maxtor...had to use it -
LS if you look at the specs at the Seagate website the ES.2 ST31000340NS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/ has different & more features than the other one. I'm assuming that's why it cost more.

ES series is designed for continuous 24h x 7 days operation, so theoretically it's better quality.
