All out of a sudden, my videos appear brighter than they normally would.
DivX, Xvid, all appear brighter than normal.
I'm using Windows XP SP2.
Pentium IV 2.8Ghz
1GB RAM
7600 GS
I use Kaspersky Internet Security 6.
I don't know why out of a sudden, all my videos appear brighter than they normally would. Videos in game have no problems though.
VLC, Media Player Classic, Windows Media Player, all play brighter than normal. However, when I change Video Output Module in VLC to OpenGL Video Output, the video appears normal...
When I change it back to DirectX Video Output, they appear brighter than usual again. I think it has something to do with DirectX or something. I reinstalled the latest DirectX from Microsoft but the same thing persists.
Anyone please help?
Could it have anything to do with Crysis or Gears of War? The problem happened right after I installed these two games.
Could it be Nvidia Forceware? I just installed the latest one (163.75) after being prompted by Gears of War.

Your video overlay settings may have changed. This effects video playback display. Look to your video card settings. 'Control Panel>Display>Settings>Advanced'. You should see a overlay tab or adjustment. Try playing a video and then adjust the overlay settings for brightness.

Thanks for your quick reply.
I went to Colour Correction in Nvidia Settings. Everything looks fine. When I played the video with the Colour Correction window open, the video looks normal. When I close the window and load another movie, the same thing happens.
Weird, I open the Colour Correction window and the movie reverts to normal.
Help please?Best food is not cooked with love or feelings, but cooked with Monosodium glutamate. -
I've found the easiest fix is usually to just download and install the latest video card drivers. A new install typicall resets everything to default which will likely correct your issue.

Umm... it's after I download the latest driver from Nvidia that caused this problem.
Perhaps it's DirectX but I reinstalled it and problem continues to persist.Best food is not cooked with love or feelings, but cooked with Monosodium glutamate. -
Switch from the Nvidia driver to a generic Windows driver. Reboot. Install a driver cleaner such as this one: http://www.drivercleaner.net/
Then reboot and install the latest drivers.
If the problem continues, I would just install a previous version of the drivers.Google is your Friend
