  1. I have followed the through tutorial provided by VCDHelp and have been able to create some GOOD looking VCDs. (THANKS!) Is the audio signal still Pro-Logic and/or AC-3 encoded? Is it only stereo?

My processor is not working right now so I cannot check it out my self.

If you have followed the tutorial, then I suppose that you have used TMPGEnc. When you check under Settings ==> audio, you can see that the output will be stereo. To enhance this, you could select: joint-stereo.

  4. Joint-stereo MPEG audio encoding is not supported in the VCD specs... it it shouldn't really improve audio quality anyway with 224kbit/s bitrate.

As for antonizick's original question, if you used either DVD2AVI or FlaskMPEG, the original AC3 5.1 digital audio will have been downmixed to a Dolby Surround compatible signal. That is, if you have a Dolby ProLogic decoder, you will be able to hear the additional centre and surround channels. However, it won't be the discrete 5.1 channels in the original DVD.

    Regards.
