Done some test captures with my new DVD recorder. The source is a VHS tape played on an old (>15 years!) VHS player, hooked up to the DVD recorder with a SCART cable. The VOB files where loaded in VirtualDubMod and a frame resized to 640x480 using Lanczos3
XP mode, 7680 kbps, 720x576, AC3 384 kbps
SP mode, 4506 kbps, 720x576, AC3 384 kbps
LP mode, 1997 kbps, 352x576, AC3 224 kbps
EP mode, 1285 kbps, 352x576, AC3 224 kbps
To me, the LP and EP modes are just there so they can say there's > 500 hours of recordings possible on the HDD....
