    Not all DVD players support VCD or SVCD. There are also some commercial discs (from India) that have playback issues in many players.

    Based on the specs http://us.lge.com/products/model/detail/tv%7Caudio%7Cvideo_digital%20video__DN788.jhtml this player does not appear to support VCD/SVCD playback. So you will need to get a player that does support them, or convert all of your discs to DVD.
