I'm troubleshooting a missing sound problem on an older MSI K8N Neo4 mobo using a new hd and also using my personal copy of XP before I plank down the funds for an extra copy. After some time by using Live Update, some online searching and a Creative driver disc it's all working fine now and I'm wondering if I can now buy a fresh copy of XP and somehow just swap the new key code numbers for the old numbers, or will I have to go through the entire installation process again? The Activation screen tells me that I have 30 days left. It would seem that I could just buy a new copy of XP and then edit the Registry using the new code and it should work ... however, I haven't done it so I don't have a clue. Anyone tried this or know a solution? Appreciate your thoughts.

You will need a product key modifier to do it easily.
