  3. Hi,
I have 2 DVDs. One is the layer 0 and the other is the Layer 1 of the the same DVD. I need to combine these 2 DVDs into a DL DVD.

Do these play independently of each other ? i.e. are they both standalone, working DVDs ? Or are they the actually data images of the layers ?

If they play independently of each other, do they both have menus ?
How were they split from the original in the first place ?

  5. Hi,
They do not play independently. They are not standalone working DVDs. They are part of each other. The 'production house' - not in Singapore where I am now, made the DVD video into 2 layers, bacause the video was too big for one standard DVD. I have ask some companies here and they say that they can combine these 2 layers, but then these are 'mass duplicating companies'. I only want to make a copy to see how it looks like before making more copies.
    Thanks & Best Regards.

It sounds like the pressing images that normally go via DAT tape, in which case it make be very difficult to create a DVD without pressing.

  8. Hi,
The files names and type in my Layer '0' disk is 'Control' - a Video CD movie file, 'Ddpid' a file, and 'Main' - a Video CD Movie.
Layer '1' disk, contain the 'Ddpid' and 'main' files. No 'Control' file.
    Best Regards

What you have are the master files needed to press a disc. I don't believe any commercially available consumer software can be used to reverse engineer this back to a working disc. These files are designed for mass duplication. If you want something you can play or work with, you need to get it from the original authoring company, or tale these discs to a duplication house.

IIWY, I'd send that back to the 'PRODUCTION HOUSE' right away, with a HUGE rant saying: You must not be a very good PH if you don't even have a DUAL LAYER DVD burner. Then, make them pay the $100 for a burner and a big pack of discs and burn you a "check disc" on dual layer (your choice of +R or -R -- not theirs). Seriously, DL burners cost almost nothing and you shouldn't even call yourself a PH these days if you don't have one.

guns1inger's right, those are the DDP/CMF control/image files for mastering/pressing. They are USELESS to you as-is (and would take a rediculous amount of time and effort in the hands of a seasoned, Hexediting forensic computer expert).
