  1. Hey Guys!

I've got a little problem, and i thought that you guys maybe could help me..

I've just received an amazing dvd! But there is a problem.. The video is not filling the hole screen

I've posted a pic, so you can see what i mean..

    Here's the picture:

    So, here's the question.
Is there a video editor, that can cut the video size/picture, so it's filling the whole picture?

    All the best,
    Lasse..

I assume that's the way it plays back on a TV, using a set top player?

You can trim off the black edges, then resize the video, but it will cause quality loss. Most encoders like TMPGEnc or others should be able to trim and resize. The way I usually do it is to extract the MPEG from the DVD with VOB2MPEG. Then you should have the DVD video on a single MPEG file. Trim and resize, then reauthor to DVD.

Personally, I would leave it as is. It's a lot of work and you will lose the menus most times, depending on the software used. And you also have the quality loss, both from trimming and resizing and the re-encoding.

Other members have some better methods.

You might drop one of the VOBs into Gspot 2.70 and post a screenshot of that. https://forum.videohelp.com/topic271697.html

Then we would know the video frame sizes and other useful information.

I wouldn't bother. You gain very little, and stand to lose a lot of quality.
