I am NOT asking about divx/xvid with mp3 audio (ASP+MP4 in AVI).
Why are people/programs putting mpeg-4 video (sp/asp/avs) and audio (AAC) in oddball containers? The proper container is mpeg-4 with file type MP4.
The common case I see are:
An MP4 incorrectly named MOV. These can simply be renamed.
Mpeg-4 in a quicktime container (MOV). This can be fixed with mp4box.
Divx/Xvid ASP with AAC in an AVI. I assume mp4box fixes this too.
