    I didnt know where else to put this so i'll try my luck here...

    I'm having trouble encoding cinematics. I hear the audio but the screen is black.
    I'm having no trouble encoding in-game content.

    I'm using ZD Soft Game Recorder v2.0.0.0

    Does anyone have any tips or know of another software that can actually be used to encode cinematics?
    Thanks for your help.

    I would take one of those files you have recorded and drop it into Gspot 2.70 and see what it says. The video may be there, you may just not be seeing it if you don't have the proper codecs installed. Gspot will let you render it to see what processes are used for display or tell you the codecs needed. Or it's possible you don't have the proper video card settings as in a video overlay problem.

    There are other screen capture programs that might work for you. Some here: https://www.videohelp.com/tools/sections/desktop-screen-capture FRAPS works fairly well, but it is payware.

    And welcome to our forums.

    Thanks for the reply.

    I downloaded Fraps and still only hear audio. I tried with MP, MPC and VLC. In terms of codecs, I've only installed CCCP.

    I ran the file through GSPot and the video status says "Codecs are installed"

    when i run "proposed codec solutions tests" i get the following:

    GSPoT vid
    (Src)-->>--(A)-->[AVI Splitter]>--(B)-->[ffdshow Video Decoder ]>--(C)-->[Video Renderer ]
    Failed to connect Output pin 0x05b2f684 ("Stream 00") on AVI Splitter to input pin 0x06b4accc ("In") on filter 0x0380cd76 ("ffdshow Decoder Filter").ConnectDirect() failed. Error: 0x80040207: [unknown]

    MSa/v
    Partial Render Failure: Following is the error reported by DirectShow:
    0x00040257: [unknown]
    More specifically, audio could be rendered, but thevideo could not:
    (Src)-->>--(A)-->[AVI Splitter]>--(B)-->[Default DirectSound Device ]

    I enabled Fraps decoder in ffdshow. Still no luck.

    Do i need to download avi splitter?

    Any ideas/suggestions?

    Try opening your file in Winamp,
    choose the menu item "view file info" and
    tell us what it says. This was the way by which
    I found out an MP4 I had downloaded
    actually was a 3gp video. HTH.

    Video Render OK. Use (3) to play

    (Src)-->>--(A)-->[AVI Splitter]>--(B)-->[ffdshow raw video filter ]>--(C)-->[Video Renderer ]
    Failed to connect Output pin 0x05b7a604 ("Stream 00") on AVI Splitter to input pin 0x054813c4 ("In") on filter
    0x03a760d7 ("ffdshow raw video Filter").ConnectDirect() failed. Error: 0x80040207: [unknown]

    MSa/v (up to 2nd test)

    (Src)-->>--(A)-->[AVI Splitter]>--(B)-->[ffdshow Video Decoder ]>--(C)-->[Video Renderer ]

  6. Turn off your graphics card's video overlay feature before you start recording.
